Ever since Monroe's closed there's been a certain emptiness downtown. District doesn't necessarily fill the void, but it certainly provides momentary satiation. The live music (jazz) was great and not overpowering. The atmosphere and decor here are pretty great. It's dark, but not too dark. The music is loud, but not too loud.
I had the buffalo ribeye per the bartender's recommendation and it was quite nice... a bit on the fatty/grisly side but it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The mac-n-cheese side was a little underwhelming, especially because it had some wilted spring mix as garnish. The flavor was good, but my mac-n-cheese would dropkick this one to the moon.
The service was prompt and friendly and I would not hesitate to return.
