I dealt with Schaffer's as an out-of-state bridesmaid and had a pretty frustrating experience. I placed my order with no problems and made arrangements to have the dress shipped to me when it arrived. When the dress came in, they called to confirm my shipping address. After I confirmed my address, the staff member told me the dress would go out the next day. Two weeks later, I still did not have the dress and sent an email to the correspondent inquiring about its whereabouts. I received no response from anyone at Schaffer's. I tried calling several times and was never able to get anyone on the phone. Finally the dress arrived and I noted it was postmarked TWO WEEKS after the date it was supposed to have been shipped. Mostly I was annoyed that the dress sat in the shop for two weeks when I could have used that time for alterations. I never did receive any response from them.
When I actually tried the dress on, it was so large that no part of it would stay up on its own. It could have easily been two sizes smaller and would have still needed alterations. When I ordered the dress, I gave my measurements and was given a couple of size options. I actually picked the smaller one since the other sizes just seemed too extreme (for reference, I am normally a 0-2 for clothes, I ended up ordering a 6 and would order a 2 if I had to do it again!). I understand that the designers issue sizing charts, but I would have expected the staff to contribute some knowledge about the actual sizing in helping us decide (the other bridesmaids also had this issue and most of us had to make significant alterations).
Overall, given the amount of money I spent on the dress and shipping, I was very disappointed by the level of customer service and lack of concern over making the process less painful.
