We stumbled upon this spot because we were looking into train activities for the kids. We were hoping for holiday activities but they didn't decorate for that just yet. It's all good. We had a nice trip out to Historic Boulder City and this spot was cool. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 4-11 and free for kids 3 years and under.
The cool factor of this whole experience is having the conductor punch your train ticket and entering the train. The seats are pretty spacious and allows seats to face each other fitting up to 3 guests per bench. The windows open too so you get a better view during your train ride. The ride itself is a straight shot on the Nevada Southern Railway, about a 30 minute ride. 15 minutes to the end of the railway and then 15 minute ride back. The kids loved it and that is what matters. The staff were incredibly friendly and informative with the history of the Nevada Southern Railway.
When the ride was over they let us know we could go across the train track to the free live steamers small train ride. They only ask for donations in return for the free ride. "Donations are the prime funding source helping to maintain and grow the railroad". This was very cute and almost more fun than the actual train ride itself. Must do this if you visit.
After our live steamers train ride, we went back to the train museum to check out the different trains on display. This was cool to check out.
