| - Last night, my husband and I were finally able to use our Living Social deal that I purchased last year. I paid $62 for a two person cooking class with 4-courses (normally $150.) Since they were undergoing renovations, they extended the expiration date for everyone which I appreciated.
As soon as you walk in, the delicious smell of Indian cuisine is wafting around. It has a small store front, where you wait for Ruby to collect you and bring you to the cooking school area. This area was a bit too cramped for me. We chose to sit closer to the ingredients, thinking it would be easy access, except with 11 other people trying to get there, my chair ended up getting kicked and pushed in the rush to get ingredients and decided to move it aside and stood for most of the time instead.
Ruby was great. Very easy to follow, had humor and was a very sweet woman. We would cook one dish, put it aside, work on the next dish, and so on. We then had to reheat the two mains, to eat everything together.
I didn't enjoy that the class began at 6:30 and we didn't get to finish all our dishes and eat until 9:30pm. If we had known the format, we would have eaten a light dinner prior to attending. It would have been nice to have a taste of everything as soon as it was cooked, rather than waiting and reheating later. My husband and I ended up getting a little hangry (hungry-angry) towards the end.
I would return to Ruby's Kitchen for another lesson, but I will be sure to eat first!
