| - Hands down my worst ever customer service experience with lodging, and I am in my late 40's and well traveled. My partner and I traveled here for a wedding recently. After non-working curtains and no water pressure or hot water in shower (I mean, who really needs a working shower when getting ready for a wedding?), we also ran out of toilet paper. Oh, I'll just run out to the office to get some since there's none in the room. Oh, no one is working at the office until 11am, and when we try to call someone on staff, the voice mailbox is full!
Having to get in the car and head out to buy toilet paper = $150+/night. When we complained and indicated we were looking into leaving early and not staying there another night, management offered a discount to around $120/night -- still way way overpriced for the level of accommodations and especially (lack of) service) and, after prolonged argument, agreed to not charge us for the last night if we left early as planned. Given limited options in the area, finding another place last minute was a struggle, and a distraction from wedding gathering. We were taken in by local wedding guests, never returned to the Tumbleweed, and were still charged $150+ per night, including when we didn't stay there! When confronted with this, management lied and indicated they had offered to help us find alternative lodging and then never heard back from us. Total BS.
Am now in protracted process with credit card company disputing charges. Read Better Business Bureau claims about Tumbleweed and you'll find numerous complaints unresolved and unresponded to. Not just a bad lodging experience but a bitter and maddening interpersonal experience with management. We feel lied to and stolen from by this place, and the tone from them makes me incredulous they are still in business.
