| - Amazing food and overall experience was pretty good! So let's start with - for a weekend party - you'll need to make reservations at least a month or two in advance to get a decent hour. We ended up with a 9:30 reservation which worked out for us pretty well.
We arrived and well the service was a little slow getting our table ready since we did have a reservation but was seated within 20 minutes, so with that said - i was thinking in my head...dinner will be at minimum 2 hours long. And i started the clock.
We were in the doorway and the waitress was explaining some of the dishes to me as i was asking about the different foie gras dishes they have. The one that stood out in all of our minds was the Garlic Foie Gras, Foie Gras Poutine and "Duck in a Can".
So we sat and chattered away the waiter came by gave us menus and asked if he could be any assistance, but honestly - we didn't have a clue what to order, and he didn't have clue how to direct our menu for the night. But, he did explain all the specials they had including this amazing looking tuna they had.
We discussed and decided to order the 3 aforementioned Foie Gras dishes and everyone else ordered their own dish, including a Parmesian Risotto, Hot Chicken (which was a snap change in decision when the waiter said it was his favorite), and the Bison Rib. Sadly they ran out of pork chops and were unable to have those, sooo we ended up not getting those.
The Garlic FG - amazing - they have a dish, with 3 slices of GF on there, some croutons and maybe something else, and this roasted head of garlic. He picks up the garlic by the long stem, and with a pair of tongs, squeese out the garlic over the FG leaving the juices and the mashed garlic to fall on top of the FG and then he poured a garlic cream sauce over the whole dish. That was gorgeous and delicious!
The Duck in a Can...everyone talked about it - bread and cheese curds on the plate...the can is opened up table side and poured over the bread and cheese curds and the heat melts the cheese, the juices are soaked up by the bread and the duck meat, gf and everything on that plate was delicious!
Poutine with FG - good...not amazing, but the FG on the dish was delicious!
The Parmesan risotto special had a ton of peas, roasted pork belly, and cream and was cooked perfectly and delicious.
The Hot Chicken - was an amazing mountain of food - seemingly 4 pieces of fried chicken, with bread and peas all covered in a thick buttery and savory gravy that was way too much and very very tasty!
The Bison Rib - was a roasted bison rib with a sweet and slighly spicy bbq rib. The meat was very very tender and did require a little work to get at, but it was well worth it.
We ordered up Dessert - a decent sized Strawberry Rhubarb pie with ice cream. The warm pie and ice cream already is a delicious combo. The sweet and tart pie was perfectly complimented by the cold but soft ice cream.
If i'm going to go back to Montreal - I'd make reservation to get a better time. We ended dinner around midnight completely stuffed! For the 5 of us it was about $60 cnd per person.
