  • We met with our out of town friend after her day at a convention yesterday and decided to try out Citizens Kitchen & Bar. My husband and I split the Fish & Chips and my friend got a cheeseburger with no bun. We all had fries. Not the healthiest of meals but we were all hungry and looking forward to a quiet place to sit and catch up. My husband is a fast eater and got through his food fast and within 1/2 an hour, was in the bathroom. We left earlier then planned as he was not feeling well. My friend managed to get back to her room before her stomach started bothering her and I made it home. All night & morning, we all had diahhrea and stomach issues. I called them in the morning and asked to speak to a manager to let them know what happened so maybe others wouldn't get sick. I got a snotty, arogant manager who told me they hadn't had any other complaints and since we didn't all eat the same food, it couldn't possibly be food poisoning. I told her we all had something fried so maybe there was an issue with their fryers and they should look into it. She said OK - and hung up on me. What great customer service! We spend $70 on 2 meals & 2 sodas and ended up sick as dogs and we basically got - nope, didn't happen, don't care - see you. Mind you I know their mentality - these people won't be back and we won't have to worry about it again although I did start the conversation letting her know we were locals but that didn't even seem to matter - and it shouldn't - bad food or service should not be for anyone, local or tourists. But we will definately not be going there again and I will let everyone know what happened so they don't have to experience it themselves. All of this could have been resolved with a little bit of compasion - it wasn't like I was asking for a free meal or anything - just for them to acknowledge and do something so no one else would get sick. It might have been a one off but I won't recommend it to anyone - if management doesn't care, why should their employees?
