  • I was a big fan of La Paz when they were at South Blvd location and was looking forward to trying them again when they opened this location. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. Although the new location is nice looking and still serves awesome drinks and same great chips and salsa, their overall food quality is a notch above disgusting. It appears that they have started to skimp on both quality and authenticity in favor of being trendier and hip. I ordered their Chicken Fajitas and my friend had the Arizona quesadilla. The fajita platter had diced veggies (instead of strips) and what's even more unusual is that it had diced potatoes. Diced veggies are OK, but the only downside is that you don't taste as much of the flavors of the grilled veggies as you do with strips. The chicken was well cooked. I asked for corn tortillas with the fajitas instead of the standard flour ones, but the server told us that they only serve flour or crispy shells. What kind of Mexican restaurant does not have corn tortillas with fajitas? The server did accommodate my request for corn tortillas, but they were the "yellow" corn tortillas which they use specifically for frying and making taco shells, which is very different in texture and taste compared to typical white corn tortillas used specifically for enchiladas, fajitas etc. I could also tell the difference since they were soaked in oil and put on the grill to make them softer but doing so made them very chewy. For $12, the Arizona Quesadilla was very thin and lacked appropriate amount of filling. It was so thin in fact that you could taste more of the tortilla rather than the actual Quesadilla. Only upside, and the reason for the two stars was that service was good and margaritas were decently crafted.
