The process is simple, but the impact is huge!
I absolutely LOVE Feed My Starving Children! I was introduced to FMSC by my coworker who organizes field trip every year for 3rd, 4th, 5th and Middle School children with whom we work with. It is always the best field trip in my opinion.
You are there to prepare what is called a "Manna Pack" for children in other countries. It's actually pretty tasty. It's composed of vitamins, veggies, soy and rice. The packing process is so much fun because they play music to set the mood, and there is somewhat at unspoken competition that starts after the first few boxes packed. Each group is encouraged to create a catchy phrase to let the warehouse crew know you've completed a box. One of which I've heard recently for example is, "Feeding kids is really great! Table 8, Box 10!" If you go with people who are more competitive you can really rack up the number of boxes.
To come and pack is free, and if you're in need of volunteer hours they will help you out. They don't ask for donations but they do have a marketplace in which items are made in the countries that they send the Manna Pack to. They also sell T-Shirts and hats with their logo. I've got 3, and I want more! I definitely recommend taking an hour or two out of your time and checking out Feed My Starving Children.
