  • Yoga Tree Midtown is an excellent studio. I have been going here for several months. I have enjoyed all of my classes with Duncan, David, Roger and Zoe (who has moved away). They are all great! Reception staff are friendly and welcoming. The 30 day unlimited promo is something you should not pass up. It allows you to explore a number of different classes, levels, times and teachers before committing to the unlimited or a number of class passes. The studio is very conveniently located near Eglinton subway station. Sign-in is automated using a small card that has a bar code on it; you can attach it to your key ring. You can register in person or on-line. You can also sign-up/reserve a class on-line, but this is not actually necessary. Some days and classes are busier than others, but if you arrive at least 10 minutes before the class start time there will be room for you. There are 3 practice rooms: two that are light filled with windows, where non-heated classes take place. The hot room is spacious and there are no windows. The heat is excellent! Floors in the rooms are made of bamboo with ceramic tile in the common areas and change rooms. Since they're on the 8th floor of the building, all of the practice rooms are very quiet, i.e., you won't be bothered by the noise of the city. The studio is very clean, modern and bright. The (women's) change room is spacious enough. There are plenty of hooks and shelves for your stuff. There is ample bench space as well. There are a limited number of metal lockers (I wish they would add more). You need to bring your own lock. In my opinion, it's discourteous to use a locker if you didn't bring a lock; people do it all the time here. If someone really wants to steal your stuff, do you think they won't open an unlocked locker?! There are 2 separate shower stalls with frosted glass doors and nice tiling; they are at the back of the change room behind a partial wall so you're not on display. Stalls are very clean and are stocked with liquid soap (no shampoo/conditioner). There is also a sink, hand dryer and a hair dryer (stored under the counter.) The bathrooms/toilets are NOT in the change rooms. They are located near the elevators and opposite the reception desk/studio entrance (reception will give you the pass code). As for students/clients, there's a full mix here of ages and genders (generally more women than men). I hate to complain, but the only criticism I have of the studio is that staff should wait until clients are done showering, changing and are actually gone from the change room before they come in to clean. I/we don't even go to the last class in the evening and don't take a long time to shower and change. I know staff are just doing their job and I'm happy that the change rooms and studio are cleaned. It's just really annoying/rude when they are cleaning around you, including mopping the floor. This has happened on several occasions. Update 2013: more lockers have been installed in the (women's) change room. Don't forget to bring your own lock. This is still a nice, clean studio with a fair number of classes to choose from. Would still highly recommend.
