| - Here's both an update and some corrections to the mess of my previous post.
Some cons:
- It gets crowded VERY easily. Be prepared to have to wait if you're into lifting because the only thing they have a lot of are cardio-based (treadmills and ellipticals). It's small , with only Two power racks that can be used to squat/bench - meaning they can be very difficult to get to and people will use them for the other uses they are capable of (like the person who ignored the unoccupied pull up station to use the squat rack instead, grumble grumble). Thankfully if I have needed to work in, I've usually been able to, but another rack or two would be fantastic.
Unfortunately, there are only three restrooms and only two of those have showers. They can, and will, fill up - and if you go before work... Better hope no more than one other person has to freshen up at the same time!
Also, the classes can get more than a bit snug, though only one of them (in my experience) gets TOO full. Though their drop-in rates have increased so a decent chunk of people stopped coming to those.
Their staffing hours are... difficult for people who would want to try a class. I have had quite a few friends who wanted to try out their Saturday Zumba class but... No staff that could let them in or talk about memberships are there until AFTER the class is over (the fitness instructors at those times are not able to do these things). It just makes things difficult when there are things scheduled for times none of the main staff are available.
There are pros as well, and, even though my cons list is longer and more detailed, I truly do think of this as a pretty good gym.
They have good, solid weights and machines. The weights are accurate and everything is maintained well. When something does go wrong, it's fixed quickly.
The staff is very good at their jobs, very kind and helpful.
The gym is clean, weights are generally in the right area and not all over the floor.
The instructors for the group classes are great - they know their stuff and teach amazing workouts.
Open 24/7 with the key fob - this was the biggest reason I joined.
Private showers/restrooms - yes, only two showers and three restrooms, but the quality makes a great argument against quantity here.
I'd still recommend it - the equipment is nice, the staff are great and personable, and it has a nice/clean atmosphere. However, a lot of why I joined has become null and void, or are being phased out, and it's still the same price - meaning I'm paying the same with less of what I signed on for. I can't say this is the best gym anymore, just one I like.
