  • Coming from Boston we had high expectations, and they were met by the Museum of Fine Arts. I wasn't too thrilled with the modern art, but it tied in with the flow and history of Montréal, so it just made sense. The museum is spread over three buildings which are interconnected underground (it's like the mole is Canada's spirit animal). There was a classy nod to the first people (Inuit art), along with international pieces (both historic and modern). We visited during the Pompeii exhibition, it's great that they bring these types of exhibits to their museum. It was moving and morbid seeing the casts of the people of Pompeii. The shop was overpriced, but that's every art museum so it's not something that one can strike them for.
