  • If you are looking for bargain basement prices for baked Chinese goods, this is definitely the place to go. They aren't baked in a basement of course, that's just typical satire, but don't expect superior quality. Known for the special of the day, three buns for $1 this is your typical bakery along Spadina. Wouldn't say it's the best but it's not bad if you are low on money and you are hungry. One good thing about this place is they bring out stuff throughout the day even later on in the afternoon which is a rare find from what I've seen. Then again, I don't consider myself a Chinese Bakery expert so I don't know if it's rival competition "Ding Dong" Bakery down the street brings out stuff in the afternoon. Anyways, moving right along...The only thing I like about this place is their version of the Neapolitan cake. Basically it's a layered cake with cream, walnuts and a flaky layer (like a passion flak). It's really good, and at $5 it's a good deal. They get bonus points for having two little tables for people to sit and eat. Most of the bargain bakeries don't offer seating to maximize space and accommodate the huge hordes of crowds looking for inexpensive Chinese baked goods. If No frills had a bakery, this would be it!
