| - I went back to this cupcakery location yesterday to meet up with founder Candace Nelson, who came to town to promote her new book and do a signing. I already had her autograph from my previous meeting with her so I just had pictures taken with her, and of her signing and chatting away with her loyal fans, who patiently stood in a fairly long line. She was very courteous and professional- the way it's supposed to be when you meet with your customers who pay good money to keep you in business, right? The staff was classy and cool, and one guy even offered to "babysit" a customer's Yorkie dog because you can't bring your pets inside (only service animals, of course). Overall, the whole experience just made my visit more bearable, especially because due to the small space of the cupcakery, the line snaked outside where the warm (November (gasp)) afternoon sun was beating down (Candace was there from 4 to 6). Understandably, the cupcakery was designed just for customers to stroll in and pick up an order and not intending to be a "restaurant" type, where you sit and have a latte with your cupcake. The prices are not cheap but again, this type of catering is for a treat and they are also generous with freebies to make up for it ;)
I still visit annually for my free birthday cupcake. Also, if you register for rewards, you get a free cupcake just for signing up. My current favorite is the apple crisp flavor or triple cinnamon. They also sell their own ice cream and cookie varieties and also dispense cupcakes via their ATM, but I've never gone those routes- you'd have to go inside during business hours for that special freebie ;)
Thanks, Candace, for your visits! And, to that staff guy with the cute dog ;)
