| - Food was entirely edible, and arrived promptly. That's the end of my praise.
Not once did a member of the staff smile at us. In fact, when we walked through the door, two hosts (or perhaps a host and a server) bickered quietly about who had to seat us.
I started out by ordering a French 75 from their special drinks menu, which didn't arrive until after we ordered food. The drink was absolutely horrible, and tasted like it was half bottled lemon juice. When I complained and started to ask for maybe a gin and tonic to replace it (which should be a cheaper drink if anything), our waiter whisked it away and said "I'll fix it." No apology, or opportunity to tell him what I wanted. The second drink included real lemon juice and the green heel of a lemon, but this time I could taste the stale wine they were trying to cover up. I later learned they don't measure any of their drinks.
The food was fine. The menu was a mix of everything Spanish and Latin American, which was surprising considering they call it all tapas, but we gave it a shot. Our salad was wilted, and the dressing tasted bottled, so it was not worth the money at all. We ordered potatoes with tomato, and it came out with sweet, clearly jarred, pasta sauce and finely grated cheese. (Does the Midwest want everything to be pizza?) We also had plantains, which were the highlight but still nothing to write home about, and a shrimp dish that was very bland aside from a lot of salt.
After dinner, we went to V. Picasso for wine and dessert, and had an incredible experience for admittedly close to the same price. We only spent $45 at Radio Maria, but it was much more than the restaurant deserved. Won't be returning.
