I use to really like this place but something tonight was just off. I have been thinking about it all night and can't put my finger on it.
It started out very slow and quiet for a Friday night. There were two other tables with guests downstairs and a few upstairs at the bar where a performer was singing Neil Diamond
We started out with the Bruschetta plate. Good selection of toppings but the bread/toast was too thin and crunchy. Almost like a cracker.
I had the Filet Mignon, with Bernaise and pepper sauce. Good cut of meat, cooked medium rare, which left lots of juices to to be soaked up with my side of Parmesan Risotto and the house bread. Risotto wasn't too hard or too mushy and tasted very good.
Katherine wasn't very hungry and had a small plate of the veal meatballs and Parmesan risotto. She said the meatballs were very soft and tender. She doesn't like a meatball that hard to cut in to. Spices for the meatballs were not too much and just enough to get a taste of Italy.
Finished with small piece of tiramisu and the staffs favorite cinnamon roll with ice cream on top. Warm, gooey with lots of sugar and cream... Good choice but paying for it this morning when I hit the gym.
Staff was friendly, attentive, and food delivered promptly. Will go again but feel the atmosphere has changed... maybe because of the several other great restaurants in the Kierland and Scottsdale Quarter area.
