I met a friend here last night, and was clearly not the only one who thought of Saba's. The restaurant had quite a few patrons, some clearly regulars of the place. I was hoping that this was a testament to the quality of the meal I was about to have. Not exactly, unfortunately.
We shared the regular hummus which was chunkier and more garlicy than usual. I'd give it just an okay. I decided to have the chicken kabobs and chose rice and grilled vegetables as my two sides. I liked the flexibility of the sides- there is a long list of them depending on what you're in the mood for. My chicken kabob was also just okay. The meat was a little bit gnarly for my taste and the seasoning was in no way overpowering like I wanted it to be.
The service was just okay, as well. They were super busy, and after we got our meals, I was unable to grab our waitress to acquire some hot sauce.
Everyone in the restaurant but us seemed to order the flaming cheese, and they also have flaming baklava. Saba's is clearly family owned which tells me I'll probably give it another chance and hope that my taste buds will dance a little bit more the next time.
