| - Came for the mason jar drinks, stayed for the nice atmosphere and the incredible people (Fred, Amie-Ève, Guy, Olivier, others that I'm afraid I'm missing). I was staying nearby for vacation for about a week and a half and La Distillerie became one of my regular bars. The drink menu is really well-done: all the drinks are categorized according to flavor profile and strength so it shouldn't be too hard to find something you like, especially if you let the bartenders help you choose.
The best, though, was sitting at the bar on nights that weren't too busy and letting Fred just go to town on an original or experimental creation (which will probably involve the blow torch - he must have channeled some arsonist tendencies into mixology). My favorite was the one he infused with cigar smoke.
Behind the scenes everything runs smoothly thanks to effective crowd control (which means a line outside the door on busy nights), cleanliness, and good service. Once inside I was quickly greeted, seated, given a menu, had my order taken, and I never had to wait long to put in another order or to get the bill which is something that should not be taken for granted in a place that gets as busy as this one.
Hopefully I'll make it back in the not-too-distant future!
