| - If I could give this place negative stars, I would. When Camden owned this property, it was a dream, but once Torreyana took over, it went downhill. I lived there 2014- 2017. Since Torreyana took over:
1. I lived next door to a notorious gang member and lived in fear of my life because I didn't want any trouble. Clearly they didn't screen residents well enough. Or keep tabs on residents. Otherwise they would have seen that this guy was not on the lease and living there. With Camden, the office knew everyone and even their names. They knew when someone was out of place.
2. Maintenance became a joke. You have to pay a $25+ monthly "community area maintenance" fee. For nothing. They don't restock the poop bags in the dog area unless you hound them in person. Calling and complaining about it didn't work. They don't clean the dog area regularly so it smells awful. The lawns inside the courtyards are yellow and dead (if they take you on a tour they avoid those areas). Pools filled with leaves. Trash and pine needles everywhere.
Also, the lights in the complex and the mail room lock are always broken. It's scary walking around at night.
Oh, and the last time it rained my roof had a leak and flooded part of my kitchen. The maintenance guys came, took a look, grabbed my nice kitchen towel and mopped up the nasty water with it. Then told me they'd call someone to fix it. Never got fixed.
3. The water bill the complex sends you went way up! They have many leaks on this property, broken sprinklers and such. You pay near $40 in the WINTER for a 2 bedroom. Reporting leaks to them is pointless because they are never fixed.
4. There were multiple sprees of burglaries. The management didn't let residents know until about the 2nd or 3rd spree that it was happening. They tried to keep it quiet. I unfortunately became a victim during one of these sprees.
(One of my bedroom doors was kicked in, and it took TWO WEEKS of begging and hounding for them to replace it. Kinda awkward to have your bathroom door broken so guests couldn't use it).
5. I personally witnessed the aftermath of 3 car break-ins. But of course the break ins never stopped. Even with the "security" walking around.
6. The gate was broken for a very long time. The day they FINALLY finished fixing it, they had a hiccup with the system and it accidentally deleted all the access cards' info so no resident could use their card to get in. Instead of everyone using their personal code (that residents can give their guests and then it tracks who is coming in), they emailed EVERY RESIDENT one main override code to get in until the issue was fixed. Once they fixed the issue, they didn't change the code. So now former residents, current residents, delivery people, resident's guests have the code! Making the gates useless. As of the time I moved out, they hadn't fixed it. Also, people who don't have access just wait outside of them until someone opens the gate and piggy back off of them.
7. The staff is condescending. When I bring up issues they talk to me like a child. They will take every penny they can from you. When I got broken into I had 2 months left on my lease and even though I was in fear of my life and was having nightmares, they wouldn't let me break my lease without paying about $2k in fees.
They also put "notice to enter" notes on your door so they can come in the next day but don't give you the letters first thing in the morning. They drop them at your door mid-day or later but they have it dated so it appears that they gave you the required 24 hour notice. I had less than 24 hours to make arrangements with my job (because I wanted to be there during the inspection) and asked them to please reschedule for later (only by a day) and they cited that they gave me the adequate notice. But they actually didn't.
8. I have a friend who is still stuck there in her lease and she contacted me today to tell me that there has been a peeping Tom in the complex recently. He's been seen jiggling door handles and looking in windows. Tonight she and her husband saw him "pleasuring himself" while looking into a window. He got away but they reported him.
***Point is, this place is not worth your money or time. It is unsafe, the staff doesn't care, and way overpriced. STAY AWAY!!!***
