Location: Yonge Street, Toronto
Item Ordered: Kimichee Stew ($7.10)
Woke up hungover on this Wednesday and was craving something soupy and spicy. Since Bonga Buldak is located across the street it was the perfect option. When I probed through the menu the only soups listed were the chicken noodle and the pork bone. I asked the server if they had a kimchee soup and they did, it just isn't listed on the menu.
The server/son-of-the-chef assured me that his mother's recipe is quite authentic. And it was. Kimchee, lettuce, pork, soft tofu, shiitake mushrooms swimming in a hot red pepper broth was good and the perfect food to snap me out of my "morning after" shakes.
This wasn't the best, nor the worst. My favourite still goes to Buk Chang Dong Soon To Fu in the Annex.
