| - I've got 2 boys - a teenager and a middle schooler - and we've tried all kinds of hair places in hopes we find one we all like. From the walk-in places like "The Barbershop" and "Great Clips" to just me and some clippers on the front porch to high-end salons, we've given them all a go. Dick and Arnie's is the ONLY place where both my boys walk out happy and looking top-notch ... and the haircuts grow out well, too. My one son has thick hair and Rogers does a great job. My younger son has fine hair and I like how Ka cuts his hair the best. For the record, both my boys have traditional styles - short on back and sides, longer on top and blended. My husband used to go here too when he worked nearby. He recommends either Rogers or Ka, too. He doesn't recommend the female stylists (sorry, ladies!). I love watching these guys do their thing; the attention to detail is amazing. Having watched many a haircut, there's definitely something to be said for a good barbershop haircut if you're a guy (or want a masculine haircut) vs. the salons. There's no extra chit chat like at a salon (my sons HATE the small talk) and the "haircut vocabulary" is straightforward when you tell them what you want (you have to learn the vocab first, of course), whereas at a salon there seems to be more room for interpretation and, AHEM, "creativity" on behalf of the stylists, leaving more room for error and customer dissatisfaction. I recommend making an appointment.
