This place is fine if you don't know what good soul food is. The greens were typical canned greens that they added smoked ox tails to. The rice and beans lacked the standard gravy that comes from when you slow cook beans the right way.
The catfish and the cornbread were great. Especially the cornbread! That was probably the best part of the meal, it was like the 'cake' cornbread I grew up with in the south. I would have given it 1 star, but the cornbread was amazing!
The owner was there and talked about his medical issues going on... then snapped at another guest who asked about a former employee. That guest, who mind you was SUPER excited about coming here and was clearly a raving fan. It also seemed like the staff there had a communication issue.
I also thought it was Hilarious the fact they call themselves a soul food place, but doesn't serve sweet tea.
