  • Honestly, just look at this cut. My sister, a long time patron, excitedly scheduled this appointment for me after I finally agreed to do something different with my hair. Going into the appointment, I had more of an open mind than I probably should have. I know nothing about hair, and I made sure to let Tzigane know that - I even told her I wasn't sure how to pronounce balayage. I came in with dark hair down to my waist with the intention to donate it and color the bottom of what was left. I wanted a nice cut - that was for sure - but I was pretty open to the color being whatever. I showed Tzigane a huge range of pictures from barely lightened highlights to full on blonde and told her I didn't even know what was possible or what would look good as I'd never colored my hair before. I figured she was the expert, so when she chose a photo sort of in the middle and said she could do it, I was excited. Fast forward five and a half hours later and my hair doesn't look anything like the picture we agreed on and it's curled so that I can't see how messed up the haircut is. Desperate to get out of the salon chair I'd sat way too long in, I got up, took the pictures they make you take, paid and left. (A whopping $310, $75 of which was for a worse cut than the ones I gave myself in middle school.) I'll admit I still like the color even though it's far from the photo I showed her. But based on my inability to decide on something beforehand, I'm gonna chuck that to me probably being pleased with any color. Another plus is that the salon is chic and cool, and the women there are all super friendly. I just absolutely cannot stand this cut. It's been over a week and every time I look in the mirror I get annoyed that the ends aren't even and the bottom is as messy and choppy as it is. My sister, heartbroken to see that her favorite stylist could screw up so badly, angrily reached out to Tzigane demanding to know what happened. (I read the texts, and she didn't hold back - it kinda made me uncomfortable to see how upset she was.) Tzigane fiercely defended herself and then offered to fix whatever I'm unhappy with. I have no doubt Tzigane is usually an awesome stylist - I've seen the photos and seen what she's done to my sister's hair, but seeing as she messed MINE up so badly I am not up for letting her try again. Overall, it's a nice salon with a friendly staff, but I hate my haircut and am going back to cutting it myself after this.
