| - After having an amazing lunch at The Goodwich for the first time, in the Arts District, my sister and I decided to continue on our Downtown adventure. Our plans for the day with our friends didn't go through (when your friends flake out). However, we embarked on an adventure in the Fremont East District.
My sister remembered that we both bookmarked The Writer's Block, so we decided to visit. Upon arriving to what seemed like a plain looking shop, it ended up being a fun experience. We both enjoyed reading a good book and remembered the times of when there were events at the local library like story time. Our parents would always try to make an effort to bring us there. Plus we would always stop by at Walden or Border's Book stores at the mall.
The Writer's Block Book Shop fills a void that breathes life into a neighborhood lacking a book store or a place to find hidden treasures. This cool and small shop looks very deceiving from the outside, but once you enter, it has a wow factor. The use of space keeps this place unique and wanting you to explore each of its 6 rooms, including a children's section which was full of old and new school books with educational toys. You'll come across artwork, stationary items, locally made arts and crafts along with sections of books classified from Non-Fiction to New Age and so forth. We had the pleasure of being assisted by James who was very friendly and knowledgeable.
If you're ever in the Downtown area, come check this place out. Plus you can stop by PublicUs cafe located within walking distance or have lunch at Chow next door.
