  • I'm very disappointed in my experience at Discount Tire. Unfortunately I got the stereotypical treatment women have come to expect from mechanics/ tire shops / car dealers. As a woman that has been in the car business for almost 10 years, running dealerships, I know my way around a car and know more about service than the average consumer. Unexpectedly I needed a tire. I chose this shop based on location and recent positive Yelp reviews. This was a mistake. As I walked into the shop an employee walked out. He stood there looking at me. I said hi, told him I had a nail in one tire, and asked him if he wanted to look at it. He agreed and followed me to my trunk (the spare was on the car). He took the number from the tire and inspected the rest of the tires and wanted to see the mileage. Once he saw the mileage on the vehicle he went to "inspect" the tires again. This time he started suggesting that I replace all 4 tires. I explained that I was only interested in replacing the flat tire at this time. This did not deter him. He was trying to convince me that the tires were bald. One showed some wear, but the tread was acceptable on them. I asked about pricing & we went inside. Once inside he brought me to a chart attempting to explain the tread. I stopped him again and told him I was inquiring on the price of 1. I watched him measure the tread on the tires and he was misreading the measurement on each one so I didn't want the hard sell bad on bad info. We moved to his computer. He wanted my information. I told him I wanted pricing first. Once he gave me pricing, I selected a tire. He rang me up and wanted me to pay before the service. I explained I would pay once the work was complete. He took my keys and I waited. Once the work was done he pulled my car to the front. I walked outside to inspect it, he was yellling my name repeatedly(unprofessional). I explained what I was doing. Also he had my keys. The spare was replaced with a tire. They did not put air in the other tires that needed a little bit each. I went inside to pay. I asked why they didn't air up the other 3 tires. He told me they did (lie). I asked how much they put in each one. He told me 30 pounds in the 3 other tires and 60 pounds in the spare. I explained that's impossible. The spare can't hold 60 pounds. Then he said the others were topped off at 30 pounds(not the recommendation btw). The guy that helped me is either a pathological liar or doesn't know what he's talking about and figured I wouldn't know enough to know that he's wrong. Also of all the customers that came in while I was there, only the other woman without a man got the same hard sell that I got but from a different employee. Once I got home I noticed the spare tire was not put back properly in the trunk. The price was decent-2 stars. I may try Discount Tire again, but will NEVER again go to this one.
