I FINALLY TRIED WONG'S ICE CREAM AFTER ALL THE HYPE - and it was So. Good. Really dig the location in east chinatown, considering they serve Asian ice creams.
OKAY let's cut to it. It's a neat little place that also sells a variety of healthy snacks. The menu has a variety of Asian flavours, along with vegan ones - which is great cause then my vegan friends won't be missing out when a bunch of us go for ice cream together. I was excited to try the black sesame salted egg yolk, but they were sold out :( so I tried little samples of rosewater, dark chocolate, and the blond kinako. I decided to go with the blond kinako brown butter because it was so rich and creamy! It tasted like an ice cream fudge. The person working there told me kinako is a soybean flour usually added on top of japanese mochi. While waiting for my ice cream I noticed that they had mooncake sandwiches?! But they were sold out so I was sad. Thought it was pretty neat to modernize traditional Asian festive foods.
Anyway, I rate it 5 stars because the folks working there are really nice and I'm just happy I got to eat some good ice cream. Support your local up-and-coming Asian businesses!
