1st visit. Greeted by a waiter who had a great sense of humor; his football team was losing. I told him I was sorry and he said I didn't look very sincere because I was smiling! That kind of humor makes me want to come back already! My waiter Ryan's asked if I'd ever been there. I had not so I said he explained the menu and spiciness of the food and brought samples of the sauces! MUCH appreciated. I ordered the Cabo Wabo margarita and shrimp tacos., then decided to check in! Surprise, free chips and salsa. The red is way good, and I'm from Texas where we pick our restaurants based on the salsa! Drink is damned DELICIOUS! Shrimp tacos are very good. Three tacos and a bowl of black beans for $8.75 during happy hour? That's a great deal!
The only thing I didn't care for was the bowl/cup the salsa was served in. It came with a spoon so I'm probably supposed to be spooning the salsa onto my chip, but for a girl from Texas that's just too damned much trouble! We like to dip our chips and the sides of the cup are a bit too tall for that.
Wish we had a Carlsbad Tavern in Austin! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
