| - Glasses and contacts - that is what I wear and that is what I need.
This place isn't hustle and bustle and I like that. It is very quiet and they have some toys/games for kids to play with in the waiting room. I have only ever had to wait once - usually it is right in to get my exams.
I think this is a sole proprietor and she is very nice. The support staff do some of the automated tests for contacts, but the optometrist sees you for the "is #1 better or #2."
They give out contact lens cases left and right - each time you do anything with a different lens out comes another case. I like this because then I have a hoard of cases and that makes this pack-rat happy. You can never have too many contact lenses cases - one gets icky you recycle it and move onto the next one.
You are entitled to your prescription and this place makes it as easy as possible to get it. Some places will give it to you but try and steer you to buy what they have for sale. My employer has an arrangement with 1-800-Contacts so I get deep discounts for contacts from them and they force you into that arrangement. Contacts require no adjustment and come in a box so I don't mind getting them mailed from wherever - price is all that motivates me on contacts.
Glasses are a completely different story - fit, fit, and fit are crucial. They have the usual up-sells here: scratch resistance, glare reduction, etc. I was a bit disappointed when my spouse came back with $100s in charges not covered by the insurance. I have standard (not good but not bad) eye insurance. The glasses fit nicely and they did a good job adjusting them as many times as needed to fit my particular head. The doctor also helped me pick frames that already had a good fit for my head - some brands are narrow, others wide, some have short arms on the frames etc., you can't morph any frame to fit any head, and some you can start to look funny if you do.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves is that some places have horrible fit, chains like Pearl Vision are hit or miss, but this doctor was a complete hit.
I never have trouble getting an appointment that I want - I managed to schedule my appointment back to back with a doctors visit next door and that was nice. Saves me some travel time.
Plenty of parking right in front of the office - never had a problem there.
Nothing here exceeded my expectations so I only gave it 3 stars. There is nothing wrong with this place but nothing really set it apart.
