| - Brought in an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 7 with broken screens. Displays worked perfectly and both phones were functioning. The screen fixes were purely cosmetic.
iPhone 6 was fixed hassle free and looks great for $80 - very reasonable.
iPhone 7 was a total nightmare. While the screen was fixed and looks great, then home screen button no longer works. I had to take it to Apple in the end and was told that there are two ribbons on the right hand of the screen. When these are damaged or severed, it prevents the home button from working. They expressed that this is one of the ways that Apple ensures that only Apple employees work on phones as they have a special tool that allows them to take a screen off without damaging the ribbons. Without the tool, it is extremely hard to take a screen off without damaging these ribbons. When the iPhone 7 screen was removed to be replaced, these ribbons were damaged. When I returned to pick up the phone, the button still worked but the fingerprint was no longer working. I flagged this when I picked up the phones, and so they took another look at the phone by taking the screen off again. Once the screen was put back on, full functionality disappeared from the home button. At this point I had to take the phone to Apple where the manager and lead engineer walked me through the damage and causation resulting in a broken home button. Apple said the only fix is for me to now replace my entire display kit through Apple with will run me $129.
The worst part is that since I reset my phone after receiving it back, it requires using the home screen to reactivate. This means that I literally cannot use my iPhone 7 until I take it into Apple. I'm now out an additional $130 for a problem that did not exist beforehand.
Affordable Technologies reduced the $130 for the iPhone 7 screen replacement down to $70. I appreciate the gesture for the trouble. In addition, they also offered to take my phone to Apple on my behalf and resolve the issue. Apple couldn't resolve the issue because it was clear that the phone was tampered with and they were not the owners. The extra effort to resolve the issue was great, just really unfortunately that it didn't work out.
Sucks that I'm now no longer able to use my phone when prior to taking it to get fixed, it just had a crack. Now I'm back to using the iPhone 6 until I have the time to take my 7 in to get fixed.
