| - I've been working my way through nearly even gun store and gun range around town to see who could give me the best information about my first gun purchase, how to safely operate it, and where to shoot it. The goal at the end of the day is two things, for personal safety, and for enthusiast level collecting, as the engineering behind modern firearms are very interesting to me.
The Gun Store was a bit of a disappointment for me and for many reasons.
First, the good. SAFETY is the most important experience in a gun store or range shop, and The Gun Store addressed these very early on in my encounter with one of their salesmen/operators. When I asked to see a firearm, they asked me for my driver's license to verify my age and identity, cleared the magazine and emptied the chamber of the firearm I wanted to see and then handed me the firearm. The salesperson was a little direct in advising me where to point the firearm to ensure it was in a safe direction. A little rough, but the tone made sense.
After inspecting the gun for a few moments. I asked a few questions regarding the firearm such as an extended magzine, grips, caliber, and manufacturer. The individual behind the counter seemed all to tired to answer these questions and scolded me for asking some of my questions, stating that it was not the purpose of the firearm I was asking about. The retail side was very limited and had maybe less than 12 firearms on display.
The range itself was somewhat well put together in terms of layout but not very much care or maintenance has gone into keeping up the appearance of the store.
Overall, the experience was underwhelming and I am rating this place two stars for the fact that they cared about safety and missed points for nearly every other aspect of their retail area and range.
