I came to fonduementale for a anniversary and it was a nice experience. He has never experienced fondue but it wasnt my first time. We went in and we were greeted by the waitress and we sat in the garden area. It was quite romantic. Our waitress was actually from toronto and was there for school which was so interesting haha.
We ordered "The mental" which was $49 each.
We could choose between a cheese fondue entree of the soup of the day and we went with cheese fondue. we chose the The Auvegnate which is Emmenthal, gruyère, cider and blue cheese and went with bread it was soo yummy.
Next we needed to choose broth or oil and we went with broth which is very similar to hot pot.
We each chose 2 meats and I chose fillet mignon and shrimp and he chose lamb and scallop. My choices were better ;D just saying hahaha. The meat and fish was very fresh and there was 4 dipping sauces for the meat but I cant quite remember exactly what they were but briefly, one was like soy sauce based, one was garlic and tomato (our favourite), honey mustard that we didn't care for and coriander i believe which was too strong tasting to our liking. The baked potato was good it shouldve been whipped then put back in the skin and baked again cause the texture was really smooth. The salad wasnt really to my liking it really had this strong sesame oil taste. We were quite tired from the meal cause there is quite a waiting time in between when you cook each food so we decided to be asians and throw it all in at once haha.
Next came dessert we were choosing between caramel or chocolate so obviously chocolate. The dippers were banana, apples, pineapple and marshmallows. I REALLY enjoyed the banana with chocolate which was surprising we expected to like the pineapple with chocolate more since we're not really fans of banana.
I really enjoyed this dinner and if i ever go back to montreal I would love to visit this restaurant again and try more fondues.
