  • I've been a fan of East Coast Custard up until last week, when I received treatment that no one should ever get. My husband, sister and I waited in line, excited for some delicious custard. When it was our turn to order, the worker was less than thrilled to help us. We asked for a sample and his response was, "I guess I can go in the back and get you some." As we are waiting, a group of people in their 60s said several rude comments about us, including "WHAT IS THIS, A TASTING ROOM?" Feeling the anger of the customers behind us and the worker in front of us, I quickly ordered what I always order...double scoop of vanilla. My sister ordered a chocolate single scoop. The worker quickly came back with our order, but my double scoop of vanilla, only had one scoop. I have ordered double scoop several times and everytime, there are clearly 2 scoops of custard. My double scoop was clearly the same size of the single scoop chocolate. I politely reminded the worker that I had ordered a double scoop vanilla custard. Out of nowhere, the manager came out and said he had weighed our scoops. He said, the double scoop weighed .6 and the single scoop weigh .4. First of all, I highly doubt he weighed our ice cream because the worker had gotten our ice cream for us. Secondly, .6 is not double of .4. I politely reminded him that .4 times 2 was .8. His response was, "Well, this is what you get." During this time, the people behind us were getting even more angry at us. I paid for my double scoop custard, even though I only received one. We took our ice cream and sat down at picnic table when I realized we needed a spoon. I got up to get a spoon and walked past the group of older people who had heckled us. As I walked past them, one of them stopped me to tell me that I needed to say "Excuse me" in order to walk near them. I kept on walking to my seat and the guy approached me while I was sitting down at the. He started yelling in my face and started to push me while I was trying to enjoy ice cream with my family. I threatened to call the police, which is when the man walked away, still yelling. Overall, there was no support from management for this group of people attacking us and the management ripped us off by charging us for 2 scoops when they only gave us one scoop. Never will I go back.
