| - Wow; what an experience!
The Basement is my first live escape experience and what prompted me to pick this location versus other escape rooms was the FAQ on their website and other reviews stating that this one was the best... I dont think they are wrong.
I've only done one room, "The Study," and will return to do the original room, "The Basement." I played with 5 other players, who I all knew, and no one else joined, which I'm thankful for because being locked during a high-stress situation with strangers is not my cup of tea.
We did "The Study" twice because we died the first time. Let me tell you, after that first run I could not stop talking about the experience with my friends and we predicted and wondered what lied beyond the room we didn't get to. After completing the run, it was underwhelming because we were literally so close the first time to escaping that the 2nd spending of $50 didn't feel worth it. If i knew we were that close, I would have opted for the room we didn't complete.
With that being said, this escape company does a great job at setting the tone right from the moment you enter the facility. The puzzles are carefully planned and all serve a purpose to your escape. I'm envious of the creative minds of the puzzle creators for making something so intricate. You will have to think in order to progress. Luck has no place here.
I think having 10 people in the room is a little too much because it winds up with some standing around and waiting while other people communicate or solve the current puzzle.
If you are like me and absolutely cannot stand horror, scary, suspense/thriller movies, don't let that deter you away from trying this out. I am a scaredy cat and I was able to settle in after a few minutes passed. I recommend going with a group you trust, not just one person. This isn't a haunted house. Your mind will be your greatest enemy to you because there is definitely a lot of unknown situations that could happen if you are expecting the worst.
