  • Signed up for in home shopping at the Jan. home show in Phoenix. We picked noon-2pm for our meeting with Jeff the salesman. He arrived at 2:30, late without calling. We initially asked to see mostly grey laminate flooring, he presented us with 3. He may have had more in his vehicle...don't know. Anyway, we chose a slightly grey and brown, aged look flooring. Now that it is installed we wished we would have seen more than one plank of flooring as the flooring had more brown than grey. So make sure you see more than one plank of a certain flooring. It works but we are now adding gray area rugs to make up for the overly brown color. Jeff was a nice guy, just doing his job. Not his fault that he asks for too much $$. The initial estimate for our job was over $4K which included tear out of the carpet and installation of the laminate. Way too much for 2 bedrooms. We expected about $2K or so. After much discussion we agreed on $3K. Unless you like haggling don't use this company for flooring. Some people do, if that's you, then Express Flooring is ok. The install guys, Dan and Scott were great. Showed up on time, had a good attitude. Scott had to drive back to Phoenix to pick up 2 more boxes of our flooring as the measurements were not accurate. We live in San Tan Valley, so that was a 3+ hour waste of time for Scott. Dan kept working by himself. We were not charged for the extra materials. I guess that Express Flooring ate that. The flooring was installed the same day, hey it was a small job. The guys did ding up the walls a bit when they moved the furniture and the baseboards need some repainting but I think that should be expected. We did move most of the small stuff ourselves FYI. A little drywall mud and paint and we were good as new. Overall I would give Flooring Express a c minus. I think that what we paid was a fair price for the quality of the materials and the workmanship of the install, but negotiating the price stinks. Just quote us a fair price from the get go.
