  • A little known fact about me may just be that I have an obsession with tomatoes. They are always on the grocery list, they are the one thing I'd choose over all others if I had to pick one food item to live on for the rest of my life, they fit into my daily diet - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack - they're my food soul mate. And right now, Delux wins the top prize for favourite tomato sandwich: a beautifully stacked tomato, avocado and queso medley inside a soft bun melted in my mouth. I was bummed that they were out of plantains and wished that I had known to order a side to accompany my sandwich, but that's what second and third visits are for. Perhaps at another visit I'll learn why it's categorized as "French" and not "Cuban" on Yelp, but I'll leave that to the local Torontonian Yelp community to decide. On a weekday at lunchtime, it's pretty quiet, which worked well for Vivek S and myself who sprawled out in one of the comfy booths, enjoying coffees and the big bottle of water that was left on our table. Oh, and the sugared donuts served in a bag, alongside of a dulce de leche dip and a Cuban coffee? Yeah, that's the way every meal should finish!
