| - This is where I've done "Vintage" right. There have been some serious finds here!
First, anyone who's ever been in a vintage store knows that "musty" smell. Yep, it's here, with a vengeance! There's racks and racks of clothes - ironic tshirts, sweaters, more ironic tshirts, then the truly "old" clothes in the back. Things are organized, so no digging around. I appreciate that they pay attention to changing trends, and move relevant racks to the front, like "oversized sweaters" or "summer dresses". Things like that.
My finds have been incredibly successful. First was a silk scarf. Or, I should say, "silk" scarf, one that is silk-like in material. The print on it was the classic rope and carriages print in royal blue and yellow. $3 only! Complete steal, because I have people continually mistake it for high-end designer!
My next find was a full, blown ballgown. Strapless, burgundy colour, floor length. When I saw it, and I saw the price tag of $10, I thought it was ridiculously cheap. I asked why, and they said it's because no one could really fit in it, it was too small. I tried it, and it fit perfectly. The bodice area fit better than a custom dress. Snagged it!! I added some embellishment to it since, but it's been perfect for fancy formal nights. No one could have guessed this was a $10 vintage find!
So yes, definitely worth investing half an hour to browse and dig!
