| - Stopped by Matt's at Sky Harbor waiting for an evening flight. I ordered the Sonrisa Burrito (no meat) which contains eggs, cheese, potato, & jalapeno. Who doesn't love breakfast for dinner? :) The waiter asked if I would prefer Avocado in lieu of the meat - so I bit and asked for it on the side. I also requested extra jalapeno.
For an adult beverage, I ordered a double Tanqueray and soda water with lime.
The drink came out first. Immediately I could tell two things: it wasn't Tanqueray in my glass, and the drink was definitely not a double (although it was in a tall glass.) I mentioned the drink to my waiter, and he explained that a double is 2 ounces, not the customary 3. I requested an additional double (neat) to test my theory. Sure enough, it was not what I had ordered, it was well gin (brand unknown.) I wont speculate as to why - draw your own conclusions. All in, my premium double was $30, and it was not premium or drinkable.
On to the burrito: in AZ (generally speaking) if you order jalapenos, the unspoken rule is that they will be fresh. In this case, they were pickled nacho slices and missing all of the fresh jalapeno flavor. The eggs were burnt to a crisp, and this is coming from a guy who does not specifically enjoy the classic runny yolk or French omelette. They put the avocado in the burrito instead of on the side. On top of being extremely overcooked, the eggs and potatoes were completely under-seasoned... no salt or pepper that I could taste. The side of salsa was mediocre, but edible.
To sum it up: at Sky Harbor, find food and beverage elsewhere. I left with a $50 tab (I did tip the waiter, as he was courteous and quick.) For $50 bucks, I had a few sips of a beverage I did not order and a few bites of a bad burrito.
