Still on the hunt for great Mexican food in the Charlotte area. Came here because of the reviews on Yelp and it looked pretty authentic. Upon arrival, I did have some second thoughts. Conveniently located near a Days Inn that may or may not offer hourly and monthly rates. If fact we had to park facing this motel in the back of the restaurant.
As we were walking toward the front of the restaurant, a kitchen employee did come out to cut or peel a vegetable over a trash can. Hmmm...
At the hostess station, we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside on the patio. We chose inside because it was still hot outside. No sooner that we sat down we were greeted with the loud mariachi band. They are good but they are loud. And the trumpet is even louder. Anyways, because the mariachi band is loud, the patrons are even louder. There was a table of 2 families sitting and the women were literally yelling at each other to tell a story. It was quite obnoxious. They had small kids with them who were wandering around the table and when the mariachi band came to their table.. of course one of the mom's stood up on her chair to do a dance. In all my years of going to restaurants, I have never seen that. I don't frequent strip clubs but I imagine that's what happens there.
Oh..the food. The chips were good but the salsa was one step above tomato juice. I asked for a spicier version and they brought a green salsa that had a little spice. I ordered the Expresso Burrito which was supposed to be Chile Verde, rice, and beans. Turned out to be chunks of pork but they were lean and tender. Overall, decent Mexican food with a not so decent experience.
