  • Service was professional. Carpets were cleaned. We recently purchased a house where the former owners had two dogs. The house had a slight odor. The carpets look and feel much cleaner. The odor is still there, but we now are not sure it is from the carpets or maybe something else. The service guy arrived early and called first to confirm it was ok to come earlier. Great service and a pretty good cleaning. They explained before my cleaning that if the pet odor was all the way into the padding, I couldn't expect it all to be gone after the cleaning. I appreciate honesty! They warned me the wear patterns wouldn't be completely gone before beginning, and while they didn't get rid of them completely, they looked a lot better. My complaint (why 4 stars instead of 5, I questioned making it 3) - After carpet cleaning, there was still a lot of dog hair in the carpet. I called J2 to ask about it, and they explained I should vacuum after it dries, that wet cleaning doesn't remove pet hair, it just has rotating brushes that often bring the pet hair to the surface. I asked if the house was vacuumed before the carpet cleaning, and they said no, they only do that if the customer requests it. I had a cleaning company the day before the carpet cleaners, but I don't think they did a great pet-hair vacuuming or have the best vacuum. I have had a lot of carpets cleaned in my life, some cheap, some expensive. This was among the more expensive cleanings I have ever paid for ($240 for our 5 rooms and stairs). I have ALWAYS seen the carpets vacuumed with a really strong, commercial strength vacuum before a carpet cleaner ran a carpet cleaning machine on them. I don't think this should be a "special request" service. (Especially when I called in explaining I wanted a carpet cleaning because we bought a new house and the old owners had pets.) I feel my results might have been better if they had done this. Now I am still wondering now if the remaining odor is the carpet, the padding or something else in the house - partly because the carpet has visible hair on/in it still, even after a lot of vacuuming. I would recommend J2, but I think a cleaning without a vacuuming first is substandard, compared to every other company I have used. Be sure you request they vacuum before cleaning carpets with pet hair for a better less-hair result.
