  • So I had to update my review after the absolutely horrible experience I had recently and made sure to spend several days deciding if it was worth leaving a review after all It's been a week and I'm still furious so here it is. I have been coming here for 7+ years. The gist is after them telling me 3 years ago my baby didn't have a heartbeat I continued to carry it for another 5 weeks and eventually had a D&C as my options according to them were that or "wait for it abort itself" which was too mentally traumatizing for me to imagine. I was devastated, so when I got pregnant again I was ecstatic and scared to death. I have also been very concerned as my previous pregnancy didn't end the way I had hoped. I would frequently visit and ask to pay my copay and be told I didn't owe anything, it was all covered, only to come back later and be told I wouldn't be serviced without paying my past due balance of which I wasn't aware which was then double because I had to pay for my current and past visit. After reading all these other reviews I see that's a common trend here. Anyways, I had a visit in November and one in January for this most recent and really my first viable pregnancy. My company switched my insurance and on the 3rd of January I had another visit and I had called my insurance twice to verify I was insured. New Horizons kept telling me I wasn't insured and they weren't going to see me once I was already at the office and had previously updated my insurance with them. I got my insurance on the phone who again verified I was insured, I asked the woman at the desk if she could speak to them to verify and she refused and said they would just have to figure it out later but they allowed me to be seen. I scheduled my anatomy ultrasound at my November appointment for the end of February on a Tuesday at 9am. I received a call at 12:30 pm the day prior to my appointment, a voicemail was left saying that my ultrasound was scheduled for the following day and I better be prepared to pay the mandatory fee of $358 at that time or they wouldn't be providing the service to me. This would have been my 4th or 5th ultrasound with them and I never had to pay that much upfront. I called my insurance who said technically the doctor could charge me whatever but it was a bad business practice and it was discouraged. I called to ask for some clarification after several hours of trying to calm down and after calling other ob offices to see if this was normal or what they charged upfront. MomDoc quoted me $250 for an ultrasound uninsured, and "way less" if insured. I called and asked to speak to someone regarding the voicemail left for me and was transferred to "Devany" though I don't know about spelling. She was very nice on the phone to start then I told her I wanted to discuss a voicemail that was left to which her entire tone of voice changed and she just said, "yeah?" I asked about the charge and said I'm just wondering why I haven't had to pay this before, and I really don't have much notice as I made the appointment 11 weeks ago but I just got a call today? She explained after the new year they are charging full co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance and I have to pay it or I wouldn't get any service. I told her without more notice I would have to cancel the appointment and she replied, "ok, fine" and hung up. I continued to receive messages all day from them confirming my appointment which should have been cancelled. I called my husband crying because I had been looking forward to this for 2 1/2 months. He volunteered to call for me. They told him I wasn't a patient there and they couldn't find my file. He asked to speak to someone who could help him and they said she was busy and couldn't talk to him, to which he said he had no problem waiting. They then told him he wasn't on my HIPPA so they couldn't speak to him anyways... but if they claimed they couldn't find my file and I wasn't a patient there...how would they know if he wasn't on my HIPPA? Anyways I have a new dr now and New Horizons can go rip other people off. Lastly, I learned that it's not normal to wait 1-2 hours to see a doctor. My new dr got me in within 3 minutes of check in. New Horizons averaged about 1 hour even with an appointment. So bring a book.
