On our trip to through Toronto, we stopped at the Bata Shoe Museum. It was already after 4pm and they close within 1/2 hour. We were undeterred and paid the $12CAD each. We got the brochures and directions to see what would be their current display. We opted to just see everything in that short time. It was a historical journey through ancient times when foot protection first appeared to the boots worn on the moon and everything in between. We enjoyed seeing the varying designs as well as the necessity for protection against cold, heat, water, snow, and of course you have to have style. Each room we visited had a great display of novel footwear and the history behind it. The only thing I did not see is a pair of klompjes, the Dutch wooden shoes. We hurried and at the third announcement made our way out the building. It was certainly interesting and we would come back to Bata Shoe Museum and spend more time.
