| - Ever had to sit at a sushi bar and not want to order sushi? This is what happen to my sis and i as we encounter our very first hostile, sushi chef.
We came here on a busy Tues night and settled at the last available seating at the end of the bar next to a group of 6 in front of the chef. He briskly acknowledge us and instead of presenting the menu to us, he quickly dropped it with a snapping, release motion. Just a step shy as if he were to chuck a dirty tampon at us. My sis and I just looked at each other in appalled of what just occurred. This was NOT a good start our meal.
By just observing the chef before we were able to give him our first order we could see clearly that he's distressed: From his body language, to pointing fingers at guests, slamming rice rolls, and even mistreating his knives. It put us all at the sushi bar in an uncomfortable environment. At one point we asked a server if she can put in an order for us through another chef, but she made it all the more awkward when she blurted out our order to our designated chef. Please, lady, go super fail somewhere else.. . .
Towards the end of our meal as the restaurant was clearing up, our chef had finally captured himself as if just he made it through a black hole. Strikingly he even made an effort to crack a joke, but under protest we were finished and already ordered our bottomless ice cream through a server. That's too bad because I was beginning to think we were growing on him. The whole dinner was torture-some up until that point. I rather rip ass inside an elevator full of strangers than go through that again.
I understand that everyone has a bad day, but he should've been more professional about it instead of taking it out on all of us.
And since we received some pretty low grade sushi (the orders that were not lost in that shit storm) along with crappy service minus the lady that brought us our dessert, it left a sour taste to our mouth. My sis and I vowed never to come back.
A smile will go a long way especially if the quality of your food is below standard. Thanks for our countless memories, Yama. We had a long run, but i'll take my business elsewhere.
