| - First off, if you know about the resort fee that many other Yelpers are complaining about, you'll take away 90% of the complaints about this place.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend during our "babymoon" to Arizona and absolutely loved it. We rented a car and the location of the resort is convenient to everything we wanted to do in Phoenix. I'm not sure why people are arrogantly calling this an "older" hotel. Maybe my standards are lower than the average snowbird vacationing here, but it sure looked sweet to me! The grounds are beautifully well kept. Our room was plenty spacious and the bed was honestly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The balcony looked out over the first hole of the golf course and you could sit on the balcony and hear the rushing water of a fountain below, the chirp of local birds and the sound of golf balls being hit. I wish I were back there right now. Sigh.
The water park--included with our stay--was also fantastic. We don't have kids yet, but they would have loved it. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and reading, as well as floating along the lazy river. I didn't try the water slides, but they looked fun. Also: Order the french fries by the pool. They're a bit pricy, but you get a mountain of deliciously salty fries. So good.
The restaurant in the hotel is a little pricy as well, but we came on buffet night when they were serving salad, strip steak and garlic mashed potatoes, as well as an included dessert. The food was really good! Afterward, we sat outside by the bonfire pits in rocking chairs to digest. I wish I were back there right now, too. Sigh again.
If we got a good deal on the rooms, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
