| - 5 STARS FOR DESIGN AND DECOR of hotel lobbies, rooms, and facilities. Let's just get that out of the way. The hotel is absolutely GORGEOUS down to the last detail, especially the common facilities. The hotel rooms are also nice, super luxurious, and correct many problems seen in other hotels of similar caliber in Vegas.
The customer service is spotty. There is a snooty feel here, but I did get to chat with some nice valets, pool cafe employees, and spa esthetician. First of all, there is no dress code. It says that there is on other sites but apparently that was an old manager's policy. I regularly walked around in shorts and a t-shirt. I did get a snooty experience at the front desk because I wanted to know what the credit card hold was going to be. The answer is, whatever the full price of one night is regardless of whether you booked through them or not. Example: My rate was something like $150 a night, but my hold was about $500. Another weird treatment issue I had was at the spa, where I had an appointment and the front desk treated me like I was trespassing until they realized I had an appointment. Sad.
The room itself had all the amenities you could want. You use a touchscreen remote to control lights and the tv, but I've seen that before so I wasn't impressed. The bed was comfortable and clean, and the maid service was impeccable. They turned down the room every night and cleaned everything in the day. When I had the privacy light on they left me alone, unlike other places where they just don't care. The bathroom comes with a huge tub and bath salts that apparently every room has, I used this every day. I even made a special stop to Lush because I knew i'd be using that tub.
Let me just say, I did not eat at Twist because I was going to Guy Savoy instead, but I would definitely not recommend room service and pool cafe food. It is very very expensive, and very very subpar. I ordered a tiny 8-ounce $50 steak which ended up being Sizzler's quality. I ordered a burger from the pool cafe and it was dry and unseasoned. Blergh. I tried at some point to go to the bar, but it was closing at around 1am. What kind of bar in Vegas closes at 1am? This bar.
Pool area was fine, a small boring rectangle with seats around it. Oh, and a public cabana. You can rent the other ones when it gets busy. They pass around free non-alcoholic drinks and fruit every so often,
I thought i'd be bored here because there are no casinos or shops, but I found it to be a relief away from the crazy strip and the crazy people who wander around the strip. Non- smoking hotel, save for the valet turnaround and the pool area.
Tip for parking: If you don't want to pay $25 a night (or whatever the fee is now), leave it in someone else's name that isn't registered in the room. Just remember to tip the valet. Or you could park at the Aria and walk, its a short trip.
One last complaint: The elevators are stupid. Basically, you have to go up the elevator to the to the lobby, and take the elevator to your room. To go down, you have to take the elevator to the lobby, then the elevator to the exit. Such a stupid waste of time. At least there's a chair in there.
