| - I have flown (domestic US) via Hotwire, Expedia, Travelocity, et al. several times a year for at least 10 years. Last evening I tried FlightNetwork, expecting it to work like the others. My bad. (Actually, what I tried was Flyfar.ca, which then became FlightNetwork in its later communications. I lightly researched its reviews, but wish I had dug in more deeply.)
I compared flights and prices. I chose and made a purchase. Paid with card. Based on extensive experience booking flights, I expected an e-ticket to arrive next. What arrived was this e-mail:
We have not received a confirmation from one of the airlines in your itinerary. Rest assured, our agents are working on your reservation and will contact you via telephone and/or email once your complete itinerary is confirmed.
Then a few hours later came this e-mail:
"Thank You for choosing FlightNetwork for your travel needs.
This email is to advise that we are unable to proceed with your flight reservation as the quoted fare of USD 500.71 is not valid.
We would also like to inform you that the FARES ARE NOT GUARANTEED TILL THE RESERVATION IS TICKET.
We request you to please reply to this email or kindly give us a callback on below mentioned number, if you would like us to process the reservation further.
We apologize for all the inconvenience caused to you.
Kind Regards,
Abhishek Mhatre

The above e-mail came around midnight. In the morning, I checked my online banking. The $500.71 had been charged to my card, yet I have no ticket. In short, THE FARE I CLICKED "CONFIRM" ON BEFORE GIVING MY CREDIT CARD INFO IS NOW "NOT VALID," YET THEY STILL WITHDREW MY MONEY.
I asked my bank's advice before calling the 800 number provided for the Flight Network Team; they said call and try to straighten it out asap. Called around 4 this afternoon. Courteous gentleman answered, put me on hold for a couple of minutes but apologized for having to do so. Told me the price was hiked since I had made my purchase and for an additional $70 I would be able to activate my reservation. Just note: I had already confirmed a purchase at one price and they had already taken my money, then said we can't deliver your ticket until you pay more. Damn!
I asked for a full, expedient refund instead and the guy said it will be done, money returned to my card with in 3-4 days. Fingers crossed because I'd hate for this to become more of a hassle. Will never go here again and believe this business practice must be illegal.
