  • Caveat to the star rating above: if you love rich, heavy, tasty food you would love Au Pied de Cochon. I simply do not. You might say "why go to PDC?" I thought I like a rich buttery flavourful meal once in a while but PDC is simply over the top for me. I ate the foie gras and boudin tart. I could only finish 1/3 of the pie at the restaurant and took the rest back to our hotel for lunch the next day. But the tart bested me even in a second attempt! I couldn't even fully finish the leftovers. We also tried skatefish special (too buttery) and poutine temaki (good but nothing that wow's me). I can see why many here love PDC but it is not the place for me. That being said, service is very friendly and good here. All the servers are bilingual as many people are in Montreal. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day via email and received a prompt reply and confirmation the same day. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table when we arrived. But given how popular the restaurant is -- especially on Valentine's -- I felt it was understandable. Even though it was a busy night, I never felt rushed or ignored.
