I made an appt for a standard cleaning and x-rays to take advantage of employer plan benefits before the end of the year on 12/30/2014.
- The receptionist said that they could do a cleaning during the introduction appt.
- Instead they did a whole mouth exam educating me and then trying "upsell" me on a whole treatment plan involving multiple appts.
- During the appt the hygienist kept dangling the "cleaning" if certain conditions were met.
At the end of the exam, the hygenist stated that she did not want to do a cleaning as she did not want to "use up my benefits." I had not gone to the dentist all year. A cleaning would not have affected any future treatments.
After the appointment, I reached out to the dentist's office via email and Dr. Wilson did call me. At one point, Dr. Wilson claimed he could have made more money off a standard cleaning then multiple appt treatment plan. Needless to say, we did not get anywhere. He offered to forward the x-ray's to another dentist, if request. As I disagree with his office's treatment plan. As all I needed was a simple standard cleaning.
This past week, I received a bill of $129 for services that Southview had originally said that everything was covered. I reached out again via email but I never did receive a phone call or response by email. They should have checked my insurance beforehand.
I filed a grieveance with my insurance company over the $129. This has been a huge hassle, when all I wanted was a standard cleaning just like I had done previously with other dentists !
