| - I absolutely love this place. I come by fairly often for a loaf of their honey wheat bread (which they slice for you if you ask), and it's like biting into a slice of heaven. It's so soft and delicious and stores well too. I also pick up an iced coffee and pastry when I make it over. Their coffee is good, but I wish they had Equal (sp?). However, they are dedicated to carrying the best ingredients possible, so their decision not to provide Equal is understandable. I will just need to remember to sneak my own in. I love their cheesecake toffee bars and the walnut coffee cake is amazing. I'd like to try other pastries in the near future, but I'm a creature of habit, and I love my usual choices. The staff is friendly without being in your face or pretentious (I hate to admit it, but that "our organic ingredients art holier than thou" attitude found in a lot of independent coffee/pastry places really turns me off, and I just don't get that here.) The place itself is cute and modern and very clean inside. It's very relaxing to sit and read, visit with friends, or get work done here. If you're looking for a new spot, definitely try Layers out. I almost hate telling people to come here because it's my favorite little hidden gem, but they absolutely deserve the business!
