| - I'm giving 1 star for the office people, administrative people and claims people. The 2 guys that did all the manual labor deserve 4 stars (with the exception of breaking my table!)
Make sure you purchase the extra insurance in the event something is broken. I recently filed a claim on a table that the movers broke. I realize accidents happen, but their settlement came back at $24 for a solid oak collegiate licensed high top bar table that we paid $250 for. It was broken so badly that it is garbage. Plus I have to pay to have the settlement notarized and again pay for postage to send it back in if I accept the settlement. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! What a joke! Obviously they lowball the settlement because most people look at the settlement and laugh and realize; first the insult, and second, it is not worth anymore time, money, or effort. So, their claims department doesn't have to pay it out. It expires in 90 days. They pay 60 cents per pound on a claim FYI.
By the way, filing a claim goes like this: take pictures of the damage and have the film developed into paper pictures. Fill out the paperwork, attach the pictures, and any proof of purchase. Mail it in and wait..... They do not use any type of electronic claim systems. Yes, it is a pain in the butt!
Also, be sure to clarify the "double drive time" policy and be sure it is broken out separate from the labor rate. They add in an extra hour at the hourly rate to make you think you are covered, but that is just a cushion in case the guys go over ( and they will). Add the "drive time" to that.
They won't unload the truck until you sign all the paperwork and they get payment.
Next time, I will rent my own uhaul and hire some guys to do the work. I would rather give $350 cash to the actual laborers working hard in this heat rather than the company. There is no benefit in using a "moving company". None.
