| - Adding to the horrible reviews. When we tried to be bundled AT&T Uverse services, the customer service people were great (though you had to repeat the full story to each successive person) but the company's "systems" are horrible -- particularly for a "technology" company. Phone & Internet were connected with no problem but it turned out Direct TV, their new branch, could not be installed because no line of sight for signal (trees). OK, understandable, and they offered conventional cable service. BUT -- they needed several days to cancel the Direct TV order (why, in the digital age?), and in the meantime said they could not even schedule, much less install, the cable. Meaning maybe 2 weeks without TV in our new house. i complained a bit and tried to speed up the process. At which point they discovered -- ah ha -- even though neighbors have Uvese cable -- and AT&T offered it as a replacement for Director TV -- it is not available at our house (they could not fully explain why; something about fiber optics being incompatible with underground utilities, and yet again neighbors have the service). Off and on, they were actually unsure whether our house was served. Apparently, they have no reliable maps of their system. After many hours on the phone, I cancelled all service and went with Time Warner, despite many reservations about them. AT&T simply is not a competent technology company -- they don't know where their lines are, and they apparently use paper billing that cannot be cancelled with less than several days processing time. Will never again consider A&T products/services of any kind, for any reason.
